it's quite a meandering book, but I do feel like there is enough action, enough character study, enough going on.
The Secret History (1992)
Under the influence of their charismatic classics professor, a group of clever, eccentric misfits at an elite New England college discover a way of thinking and living that is a world away from the humdrum existence of their contemporaries. But when they go beyond the boundaries of normal morality they slip gradually from obsession to corruption and betrayal, and at last - inexorably - into evil.

if we were villains and the secret history, these have never fit anywhere because I don't have a dark academia section because I don't love enough books that are just blanket dark academia, but these are an isolated environment kind of books.
The Secret History is a thriller with a satirical note. It critiques classism, elitism, and the pretentiousness of these young classic students that are kind of obsessed with their own superiority.
it's a really compelling novel that's beautifully written and if you haven't checked it out yet even though it's been talked about non-stop since it came out I would recommend going and checking it out
Donar you will always be famous I'd love another book from you when you're ready in your own time
it's low it's dark you spend time with the characters who are all I should mention very privileged and unlikable in their nature but very purposely done so as long as you're someone like me who enjoys an unlikable character if it's intentional I had a great time with this one
This book walked so all the other dark Academia books could run. I thought really enjoyed this one and understand why it's so loved and also why it's so hated.
this felt very much like a contradictory experience with the first half of the novel in particular building up a beautiful sense of mystery and suspense and the second half of the book burning through a lot of their suspense and dissipating it quite frustratingly nevertheless at its best this was a fantastic page Turner
i read this on a road trip and i was completely sucked in by the narration and all of the other characters are also mysterious and different and also flawed
This book has a lot of dark secrets it has a lot of twists and turns that you don't see coming and the entire vibe of the book is quite dark gloomy and melancholic which is why i loved it so much.
the secret history was phenomenal and i'm so glad i read it because it's a perfect murder mystery perfect for kind of like the darker evenings
it just wasn't a good time i especially was not very excited to learn that this book involves incest like discusses it for quite a while
but I really love them I love like those mystery thriller type of books with plot twists and good characters and stuff like that
it unfolds so slowly and so beautifully and I completely loved her writing. It's a very long book and it's the kind of thing where nothing much happens although obviously a murder happens so it's a big thing, but day to day not much seems to be going on but behind the scenes there's a lot there.
this is a book about a group of six students who attend a prestigious university in Vermont there is a murder that happens the very beginning of the book and then the story will take on from there
This one is very different from The Goldfinch. It's a different story line. It has a different mood to it, but I still loved it.
