View all videoswhat i absolutely loved about this book is that it's dealing with you know it's a very long book it's dealing with a lot of content but it really managed to marry together the wider context of what was happening at different periods in history with individual stories
but i would say this is such a necessary read and you know maybe it's something where you read one of the essays and then put it away for a little bit and then read another one later on because it can feel quite overwhelming if you read them all in one go
this is a why a book written in verse and it's just so beautiful i'm so i just loved it i thought the poetry was just gorgeous and i really loved all the themes it dealt with and it just makes me so happy that teenagers have this book
i really loved that development the ending is very like for me i was like this is quite sickly sweet this is almost like too perfect this ending like this is so nice but the journey you know i went with it the journey was so good it was worth it
which is a collection of essays by different muslim women edited by maryam khan i listened to this on audiobook and i would highly recommend that
it made me so angry but also it just really it really opened my eyes i would i just think it is fantastic i couldn't recommend it enough
it's just so incredible to see how skillful she writes these characters and what i particularly liked about it is that you'll be reading about i don't know a mother a mother character you'll be reading her perspective and the way she thinks about her daughter
i did really enjoy the vanishing half but something about it left me more impressed with it than really hit emotionally like at the end of it i really wanted to love it and i think i just came away from it going well that was very good but you know i didn't feel anything
i loved that this was so well written so interesting with the different themes and things that she's there that she's examining but also it was so fun it just read so quickly
this was just amazing to read one of those books which you think is going to be about one thing but really it's dealing with so many other issues kind of underlying service really this is about violence against women that's the crux of it
This was one of the first books non-fiction books that I read on feminism... it really blew me away at the time... I think it's a book that I would definitely recommend.
It's one of those books which seems very easy to read very readable very fun almost quite lightweight and which really hides how skillful it is... it's just a look at gender in general... it's really fun.
This is extremely lyrical extremely beautiful and very sad... it's such a poignant look at what life is what life means... I think it's very much worth the effort.
It's half autobiography half social commentary and what she conveys so well is the cycle of poverty and how difficult it is to get out of that... it's very interesting to see her confront her own childhood and a lot of trauma really that happened.
I love the mix of his personal touch of his experience growing up what it was like for him to be living with his white mother and then how much she made sure that her children had their education as part of the African diaspora it's a fantastic look at the intersection between race and cultural issues within Britain specifically
I listened to this old audiobook and I don't know that I'd recommend it because it was actually quite terrifying and having something scary in your ears just feels quite intimate and I'm not sure I liked it. ... this is a fascinating look at human inaction
This is a fascinating book about Tara's life growing up in not quite a cult but a very overtly religious family... it's absolutely fascinating it's very frustrating.
I think what Hallie Rubenhold does absolutely expertly here is balance the personal with the wider context of Victorian London at that time... this is just giving them back their stories... I would highly recommend this.
It is just fascinating and upsetting and eye-opening and it makes you appreciate the NHS so much and I think it should be required reading everyone should read it.
i just i'm in love with this book i don't think there's really an adaptation i've seen that i heartily enjoyed but i love the reading process of it
it just felt like a warm hug
