View all videosif you loved Victorian Psycho, you'll absolutely love this book.
that is something that she does so well in Alias Grace and I absolutely loved it.
It is such a fantastic series. It's a fantastic book. Tessadair has so much like wit and charm and humor in her stories.
I really appreciate the way that Pat Barker gives voice to Briseis' character, but also those countless women that would have experienced this in antiquity. And I think she does a phenomenal job.
it's also a book that isn't hopeless, it's a book that gives you some sort of hope and that really is fueled by inspiring powerful fierce women and I just absolutely love that about it.
it is inspired by a classic novel, and if anything, it's more of a prequel... this is a prequel to Great Expectations by Charles Dickens.
I love Emma Donoghue's writing. I was first introduced to it in her book Room and I have just loved everything I've ever read by her, but The Wonder is definitely one of my absolute favorites.
I love this book. I think it's so compelling and just beautifully written.
It is just absolutely phenomenal. The pros are fantastic and again an absolute page turner of a story.
There's also a sapphic love story in this book, which I absolutely adored and thought was masterfully done.
It is a very mysterious, dark little book, but one again filled with so much like care and emotion, and you'll find yourself absolutely captivated by these women's stories when you're reading it.
what I love about Elodie's books is her historical research. She like takes the job of writing a historical fiction novel incredibly seriously and she approaches it like a historian herself.
So it's written with the intention that you don't have to have read the Odyssey to read this book or to dip in and out of this book, although of course I would highly encourage you to because it's a phenomenal piece of literature.
So I previously read and adored Bat Eater by Kelly Lee Baker which I also got in my Illumate subscription box.
I've also read the previous two, a pack for autumn and a pack for winter, and they're just pure joy. Like, they're just absolute joy.
I've also read the previous two, a pack for autumn and a pack for winter, and they're just pure joy. I absolutely adore them and I cannot wait to read book four.
I haven't read a pack for summer yet, but I have read a pack for spring very recently when I picked it up. I've also read the previous two, a pack for autumn and a pack for winter, and they're just pure joy.
So this contains three stories. It's got the oplong box the cast of Ammonado and the murders in the room. And if you don't know, this is actually the story that inspired Sherlock Holmes. So, it has a very like special place in my heart as a big Charlotte Holmes fan and I remember reading it for the first time as a teenager and I absolutely love this edition.
Another proof copy that I can happily say I've read and very much enjoyed is The Unmagical Life of Brier Jones by Lex Croucher. And it is phenomenal.
It's such a unique concept. Like I just love the concept and the setting and I didn't end up caring that it wasn't particularly scary. So if that sounds like your cup of tea, I definitely recommend it.
And I just loved both of these books. I thought they were absolutely beautiful. And I do think they make beautiful companion books as well because while there's some overlap, there's a lot that is unique to each book.
I simultaneously learned about so many interesting things that are happening in Britain today, whilst also learning a lot about the history of these movements and these rituals, both the good and the bad. It is almost impossible to summarize but I would highly recommend giving it a read.
Now, of course, I have read this book as I did cheer the event and it is phenomenal. This was such a fascinating book and I really loved the way that Yina approached history and writing about history in this book.
