Harlem Shuffle is still a beautiful novel to experience on a sentence by sentence basis and still has so much to say about the vagaries and the contradictions of The Human Experience

How to Be BothAli Smith
Loved it

a book that is structured around the split commitment to two different narratives and that manages somehow to convey two very gripping very warm stories while also pondering all sorts of philosophical questions around matters of identity and representation it was also one of the most enjoyable novels I've experienced in 2022

very much an Italian Madame a book explores the growing disillusionment especially in sentimental matters of a wealthy young woman living in 19th century Sicily it's a brutally honest and clinically clear novel and I'm a sucker for those

a beautiful novel a perfect novel I would say about lovers growing apart art after a difficult experience about estrangement and the failure of communication but also and crucially a story about the sea with its wonders and its monsters I found it alluring and magical more than any other novel I've read in 2022

it still manages to convey an incredible sense of delicacy and Beauty it's a novel that pays homage to the beauty that was lost in the collapse of civilization it's an absolute must read

an absolute Paige Turner that was truly gripping and parked some really cruel really compelling twists especially in its early and mental part the ending was perhaps a little puzzling and I wasn't always convinced by the somewhat juvenile tone of the book

a truly sensuous experience a fantasy novel about the Eternal conflict between desire and order it's a novel that offers a cornucopia of other worldly experiences and characters and mind-banding scenarios but unlike many fantasy novels of this type Carter's novel never overstays its welcome and never feels too tiring

a novel that takes one of the most stimulating ideas I've ever experienced in science fiction a planet where Humanity has no gender it's an exploration of the pitfalls and horrors of human society but it's also a luminous book about love and friendship

The LowlandJhumpa Lahiri

my least favorite Umberto econovo earlier this year it's nonetheless a beautiful book about the ways in which the all of the texts that we experience as children including fiction but also including songs comic books even government propaganda and news headlines about how all of these things come to shape our understanding of the world

this felt very much like a contradictory experience with the first half of the novel in particular building up a beautiful sense of mystery and suspense and the second half of the book burning through a lot of their suspense and dissipating it quite frustratingly nevertheless at its best this was a fantastic page Turner

The Stone SkyN.K. Jemisin
