this isn't necessarily a book where I loved the entire reading experience but the last hundred pages of blindsight hit me like a steak through the heart and I haven't been able to stop thinking about this book since I finished it

Cat's CradleKurt Vonnegut
Loved it

to me cat's cradle is both one of his funniest books and also one of his most poignant it's endlessly quotable and one of a rare handful of books that has actually made me laugh out loud

Dark ForestLiu Cixin
Loved it

I loved all three books in the series but I particularly enjoyed book two the Dark Forest and book 3 death's end

Dark MatterBlake Crouch
Loved it

Dark Matter isn't as thematically heavy as some of the other books on this list but it makes up for that in pure entertainment

Dying InsideRobert Silverberg
Loved it

while this book is an interesting exploration of the ability of telepathy it's also an examination of the experience of any Talent or natural ability that has gone to waste and the toll that takes on our relationships and our identity

FrankensteinMary Shelley
Loved it

Frankenstein is a fantastic read over 200 years after its release because of its wonderful prose its powerful characters and its Timeless themes

House of SunsAlastair Reynolds
Loved it

this is a relatively hard sci-fi book about clones and machine people yet it still builds towards a touching ending and it's my all-time favorite sci-fi book

RingStephen Baxter
Loved it

when I finished this book I felt like my brain had been shattered into a million pieces and put back together again

Loved it

the first thing I liked about Solaris was the tone and atmosphere it's creepy and surreal and mysterious and it really heightens the experience of searching for the secrets of this mysterious ocean planet

The MartianAndy Weir
Loved it

I loved both project Hail Mary and the Martian I slightly preferred the setting in the Martian but I ended up choosing a project Hail Mary for this list due to its larger scope and for its characters

The RoadCormac McCarthy
Loved it

for me reading the road was emotionally impactful I don't have any children but after I finish reading the road I did feel the need to hug my dog

UbikPhilip K. Dick
Loved it

ubic is a book that intrigued me initially but didn't fully hook me in right away but once the shifts in reality started to happen I just didn't want to put this book down

Way stationClifford D. Simak
Loved it

The first thing I fell in love with about weigh station was the writing style it vividly describes a particular time and place in a poetic and concise way
