5-star Books of 2022! (42 books out of 124 read!)

this has become my favorite work by murakami

I gave that one five stars it was really fantastic

I really enjoyed this one which was about a piano teacher and just all the ways that she helped her students break through the slumps that they have or the blocks that they have as they're improving their craft a must read for any kind of artist in my opinion

the final book assassin's fate which was my book of the year in 2022

I gave top ratings to the final two books of that series city of dragons and blood of dragons

I gave top ratings to the final two books of that series city of dragons and blood of dragons

what made this five stars for me is there were some deeper themes that had some real world tie-ins you do not have to read all the Connolly novels in order so you could jump into this one but I really enjoyed the dark hours

Eric Larson is a fantastic author of History and his novels they're not novels but they read like novels and they read as good as any suspenseful Thriller that you will read so this was a great one

I read 11 books by Orson Scott card this year and three of them I gave top ratings the first of course is Ender's Game the first book of all of the Ender Saga

the second book that I gave five stars to is Ender's Shadow which is the first book in the under Shadow series

this was a really interesting read went down really quick kind of a journalistic prose so it was easily digestible

Fool's Quest is the second book

I gave the entire Tawny Man trilogy five stars each book Fool's errand it's the first book

Fool's fate is the third book and this was also a finalist for Book of the year

The Golden fool is the second book

but I really enjoyed this middle installment of that

this was a home run of a book I will definitely be reading more Octavia Butler in the future

this one really surprised me how much I just really loved it

I really enjoyed this one a pretty quick read but also read a lot like the Larson pretty riveting stuff for such an interesting topic

and I thought it wrapped up the series really well

this was a kind of a dance read but a very good one there was a critic that said that this book is the most important book since the Book of Genesis I won't go that far but I did enjoy it

this is fantastic especially thematically how he continues to age as he goes through each one of these time Loops absolutely must read in the science fiction genre

the third one that I get five stars to in that series is Shadow the hedgemen which is the direct sequel to Ender's Shadow

if you enjoy short stories set in the first law world this one works really well for you

this is a great work set in the time of the Samurai in Japan and has to do with the Clash of cultures between this European named Blackthorn who's the main character in this story epic work of historical fiction

I really enjoy Slaughterhouse Five

this is more light-hearted humorous Steinbeck with some really colorful characters and some of the characters from Cannery Row of course appear in this one and I think I might have even liked this one a little bit better than that one

the fifth book Tales of Earthsea which was actually a collection of short stories but I enjoyed all six of them there

I will say this one thematically was a lot heftier than the rest of the series I would dare call it existential but I really enjoyed the fourth book of Lloyd Alexander's pride and Chronicles

the two that I gave top rating to were the fourth book tejanu and the fifth book Tales of Earthsea

this feels like a throwback fantasy it's a modern fantasy work but you can almost see him just tipping his hat to Tolkien and a lot of the greats in homage not in imitation or any formulaic plotting or anything like that but there's little story beats in there that made me just reminisce about all of the great classic fantasy that I read

the Forever War is fantastic probably a top 10 work of Science Fiction for me

just really surprised me how powerful I felt this book was really enjoyed this one

this is a great short slight tale that is just absolutely delightful loved every minute of this book

I really like this first book I didn't like the later two installments quite as much they didn't get a top rating but I thought this first book was excellent

The Trouble with peace which was a finalist for my book of the year

the five star ratings that I gave to Robin hobb's books were well most of them the willful Princess and the piebald Prince

this is one that I found thought provoking well after I close the page and I thought about this one quite a bit for several months after I finished it

the last two books that he's written in that world are truly fantastic

this is probably a top three classic for me it's a very short book I think it's one of the best works of American fiction ever
