Among OthersJo Walton
Loved it

What makes this book so great is what really inspired me to take this project seriously because she namedrops a lot of the classic science fiction and fantasy that has won Hugo and Nebula awards.

Ancillary JusticeAnn Leckie
Loved it

This is still some of the best space opera I have ever read. It all started with Ancillary Justice, and I think everybody should try reading this.

AnnihilationJeff VanderMeer
Loved it

I ate it up because the writing is perfect and atmospheric, and the story, despite having some really creepy elements that made me not want to read it late at night, was really good.

BarrayarLois McMaster Bujold
Loved it

It's completely worth reading to start from the beginning in internal chronological order to read all the way through and hit the books like these that have won these awards because it's the height of Bold. They're so good.

Blue MarsKim Stanley Robinson
Loved it

This is some of the best hard science fiction I have ever read and some of the best science fiction that has won these awards. If you want a story about terraforming and colonizing Mars, this is the one to read.

Double StarRobert A. Heinlein
Loved it

Both of these books took me by surprise at how good they were, how they have stood up against the test of time, how readable they were. And Double Star was like actually really funny in places.

DuneFrank Herbert
Mixed

This is a science fiction written quite like a fantasy novel. I do think that after I reread it, I found more problematic elements to it, but it is a classic story for a reason.

Ender's GameOrson Scott Card
Loved it

I remember reading Enders Game when I was roughly the same age as the characters in the book and it really affected me. I remember being almost breathless at the end of that book and emotional about it.

It's completely worth reading to start from the beginning in internal chronological order to read all the way through and hit the books like these that have won these awards because it's the height of Bold. They're so good.

Green MarsKim Stanley Robinson

HyperionDan Simmons
Loved it

It's fantastic science fiction and Simmons manages to blend together so many things, so much literature, so many references, science, religion, everything into one series, and he did it.

This is my favorite because of the main character. I will always remember it being a very touching story about a middle-aged woman who has had many horrible, disastrous tragedies happen to her, and she gets a second chance to do what she wants to with her life.

PowersUrsula K. Le Guin
Loved it

It is a very thoughtful and good exploration of the effects of slavery from the viewpoint of a boy who was raised as a slave and then comes to realize how his life is not nearly as good as he thinks it is. It was difficult to read and I still look back on the experience of reading this book and feel like I learned something from it.

This ImmortalRoger Zelazny
Loved it

One of the earliest reviews I did on my channel was of this and it is still up if you want to watch it. It's probably still my favorite thing I've ever read by Zelazny.
