I really liked Molly O'Neal's other book, Green Teeth, which I actually talked about in my other recent reads from this year because I read that earlier this year. But I do think Green Teeth was ultimately a stronger book.

View all videosAs I started reading it, I was like, "This is still good." This again isn't quite as good as Blood Witch was, in my opinion, but this is still very good and still in line with the rest of the series.
But as a whole, I did enjoy this as a thing that is again so foundational, as a world that is so cool, as a world that I've been so familiar with for so many years in the movies. So, it was really cool to kind of compare this to the movies. But this is like a four star.
This has some of the best character development. It is following some of my favorite characters in the series. So, it is my favorite of the series and I gave this one five out of five stars yet again on reread.
I really liked the world building in this. But I would say that our characters in the plot are a little flimsy here. So yeah, I end up giving this like three stars. It might be more like a 2.5.
which I will say up front was a disappointment for me... I think this is the weakest of Tasha Suriri's books, period. So, I gave this like a three out of five.
So, I really enjoy these books. These books are some of my favorite things that I've started to read this year. The world building in this is just great. So, five out of five stars.
this was a satisfying conclusion in some parts. this finale still stuck the landing in many ways and didn't in others because this is kind of an open-ended finale. I would say this is a four out of five stars.
This was incredible. This has enough action to be interesting. The political system in here is very interesting. So, yeah, I gave this a five out of five stars.
this ended up being fine. I liked parts of it. All that starts to fall apart is the actual world building of this story that I'm not going to get into cuz it would be spoilers, but like some of the worldbuing elements of this and some of the plot points of it don't quite make sense.
So this is like little bite-sized chunks of some of her like thoughts on things which I thought was cool because I actually haven't read any other like major works by her. I think this is very good and if you're interested in her kind of like emerging strategy series I recommend giving it a go.
This is making me want to go back and try to read again the City of Stairs series because I didn't really like that when I tried to read City of Stairs. I was like, whatever.
I would say of books that are not rereads, my favorite of the year so far and one I keep talking about to everyone in my like day-to-day life is The Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennett. This is the first book in a like fantasy mystery series and it takes place in such a cool world.
that was definitely Hunger Games fanfiction that she turned into its own world. And because it doesn't have like legs to stand on, it's bad because you can tell it's supposed to be Hunger Games fanfiction and it would maybe make sense in a Hunger Games context, but not really.
That would have to be the finale of the Fallen God series with Faithbreaker by Hannah Conir. This whole series I think was five stars for me or at least very high fours and I loved it.
I think my least favorite so far was definitely A Fable for the End of the World by Ava Reid... it's bad because you can tell it's supposed to be Hunger Games fanfiction and it would maybe make sense in a Hunger Games context, but not really.
And that is Borne by Jeff VanderMeer. This is one of my favorite books of all time. It's about a woman in this like biopunk world that discovers this little thing this little thing that she names Borne on a flying bear who used to be a CEO.
I'm still very much like Evelyn Hugo was like my favorite that I've read by her.
I had read about in like Braiding Sweetgrass, for example, by Robin Wall Kimmerer, which is one of the best books of all time.
besides A Study in Drowning, which I never read the sequel to because I just consider that a standalone, I don't think Ava Reed works well for me with YA.
I also didn't really enjoy Malibu Rising. That was like a two.
This was too much memoir for a woman who I don't care about. So, yeah, this was like a two-star.
this was just as good on reread, if not better. Like, every time I reread this book in particular in the series, I enjoy it more.
it got a little bit annoying towards the end of the book, but the beginning I quite enjoyed. And I ultimately like did enjoy their relationship when they weren't being dum-dums. So, three out of five stars.
