This sister is getting tied into the corrupting magic of it all. So, her book is much more about like kind of like Devouring Gray, the upside down forest version of things. ... Both are great. Incredible.

So yeah, this definitely fits the bill but is venturing a little bit into that supernatural place too with that like upside down kind of feel. This came out right when Stranger Things the first season came out. so it definitely has that same vibe.

So a little bit less visceral. I mean it definitely has that a little less visceral than some of these other ones but definitely has that like spooky sentient forest vibe.

And finally, the book that I credit with kind of setting this all off for me in books at least is Uprooted by Naomi Novik. ... So incredible. I love it.

And then lastly is kind of similar to Mexican Gothic, another mushroom book, which is What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher. ... Again, mushrooms are a little lower on the list than like trees for me, but I do also like when mushrooms are doing things because mushrooms are creepy and weird.
