specifically kung fu fighting which made it feel like reading a kung fu movie it was so much fun the characters are great and i really did fall in love with it i think it would have been higher up on my list if the ending had been a little bit more epic

Jade LegacyFonda Lee
Loved it

i went to this book with huge expectations and perhaps impossibly hard to meet but this book definitely delivered a lot of what i was looking for i love spending more time with the characters there was some good twists and turns some really emotional moments

Liar's KnotM. A. Carrick
Loved it

the story itself is very addictive i've got to say it's got tons of characters and places and names and it was a lot to take in the first time so while this is at number 10 at the moment i would say that if i were to reread this series i suspect it would be even higher up on my list

Mask of MirrorsM. A. Carrick
Loved it

these are the first two books in the rook and rose trilogy and it's actually really unique that both books came out this year and i got the chance to read them this is a fantasy of manners that is full of intrigue and deception and plotting

this book is heavy with political intrigue you don't know who to trust people are planning and just trying to push their own agenda and there's some really good twists and turns i inhaled this book i thought it was so much fun

this book gave me so many feels it definitely has similarities to something like the poppy war which wrapped up last year and i've been looking for a read-alike since then and i just love this book i read it and liked it and then i read it again and loved it even more

Son of the StormUnknown
Loved it

this is definitely a setup for a longer series so my feelings about this book will largely depend on what comes in the following books but in terms of a setup it was a really good start i was especially intrigued by the world building i thought it was fascinating

the second novel was definitely a solid entry but the romance is the only thing that held it down from being inside my top five and i'm very eager to see how the series is going to wrap up because it definitely has favorite potential for me

this one definitely delivered if it was actually darker i probably would have it even higher on my list but for a serial killer story i found it to be pretty tame but it had some good twists and turns i really like the magic the idea of being able to imbue objects with emotions was a really interesting concept

i fell in love with the one perspective of orca she is a mother and her son is potentially in danger in this book and so she has to go and save him and so i love that it's a very female-centric story with a very truly strong female character at the center of the story she's so relatable the story is filled with humor

Veiled ThroneKen Liu

this book did start out a little bit slow but as it went i got more and more back into the story and i really did fall in love with it there's an element to this third book that i did not expect to be in there it was so fun
