the themes in this are remarkable for a volume this small

it's just one of those great short novels that i think everyone should read

it's a bizarre tale that only atwood could pull off and the story unfolds you get to see more of the landscape that snowman finds himself in but he also tells the story of how he kind of got there and it's just one of those books that you just couldn't put down

the series started with pillars of the earth which is one of my all-time favorite books

a lot of people consider this his greatest book i won't go that far but i will say that it's definitely a top three and one of the reasons is the characters are so vividly drawn in this

it's a true art of you know amongst authors and he's so good at it's it's a story that's set in new england and it's a multi-generational saga

although i didn't love the ending and i did think a couple plot points were kind of some low hanging fruit that the author chose i still really enjoyed it
