which was so Charming I'm gonna put this right here this is like a cozy murder mystery story so yes there is murder but it also centers food and family and like coming home and growth

BabelR. F. Kuang

by RF Quang one of my favorite books of the year I'm gonna stick this here I really enjoyed it obviously this is a super popular book

BeartownUnknown
Loved it

which I love I read this right in January and I really thought it was going to make like my best books of the year and I think in another year it really could have easily

Beasts of a Little LandUnknown
Loved it

this is a historical fiction story set in Korea and it's one of those tales that brings a lot of unexpected people together and also spans rather a large amount of time I cried reading this book I won't lie and I really enjoyed it

which I grouped together in my ranking both of these together were part of my favorites of 2022 I think I want to say I love loved book two more than book three but I really loved both of these books a lot

Blood BoundUnknown
Loved it

this is the second book in The Mercy Thompson Series another really entertaining series I think I'm gonna put it here

BloodmarkedTracy Deonn
Loved it

the sequel to Legend born I really liked this I don't know if I loved it as much as Legend born but it was still really entertaining

Bone OrchardSara A. Mueller
Loved it

is so weird and I really liked it is one of the most unique fantasy books I've read in a while it basically follows our main character who lives in a pleasure house she runs one and at the beginning of this book she's called to the emperor's bedside and he tasks her with figuring out which of his sons killed him

Book of NightHolly Black
Not a fan

by Holly black probably one of my most disappointing books I read this year another book that just did not deliver in any way at all I was I had such high hopes going into this book but it was so boring and kind of bland

which I liked but I didn't necessarily love as much as her other releases and even the other books I read of hers this year still great still really interesting it's like a retelling of the island of Dr Moreau but set in the 19th century and in Mexico

is another one that I found to be disappointing I wanted to love this so bad the concept is definitely one I love a folklore based fantasy story but I really just did not enjoy the pacing for me

this was solidly good shockingly I thought this was going to be one of like my favorite books of the year and it was good but it just wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be

Dragon HavenRobin Hobb
Loved it

I have some mixed feelings on this series but overall I did like it I think I definitely liked the second book maybe the most of the four

Fairy TaleStephen King
Mixed

this book I'm a little torn about I loved the concept of this it's a portal fantasy about a young kid kind of being transported to a new world and he has to go on a quest I love that idea I just didn't really connect with his characterization and sometimes his writing

GildUnknown
Not a fan

which is awful worst book I read this year please don't read it way too much on page trauma I have so many issues with this book

GlintUnknown
Loved it

I did read book two which I did like to be honest and as I say to anyone who's interested in this series skip Guild go on to Glenn you really in my opinion do not need to read Guild to start this series and enjoy glint

Half a SoulOlivia Atwater
Loved it

this is a fey Regency romance tale and it was so flipping cute I'm gonna put both of these here I like 10 000 stitches I think a bit more than half a sole full of humor and just all of the adorable romance you would want

HamnetMaggie O'Farrell
Loved it

which was another favorite read of this year I think I'm gonna put this here this was just a beautiful family focused tale stunning writing I can't wait to read more books by Maggie Farrell

this is another book where I had a lot of anticipation going into this because I thought I was really gonna love it because it's full of so many tropes I really enjoy unfortunately I just felt like its approach to some of these things were like good but not great

I found Jeanette's voice to be very compelling I listened to the audiobook of this I was glad I picked up and if you feel compelled to read it definitely check out the trigger warnings before doing so but I would recommend checking it out

Interior ChinatownUnknown
Loved it

this was super unique it's written like a screenplay I feel you just have to read it to experience it but it's a book about identity

KaikeyiUnknown
Loved it

which is a really solidly good book it's a really cool like feminist and fantasy reimagining to a very famous ancient tale an ancient figure I enjoyed it quite a bit

Legends & LattesTravis Baldree
Loved it

this was so dang delightful cozy fantasy at its finest about a battle tested and battle worn main character settling down on a new fantasy town to open up her dream coffee shop low stakes just endearing and entertaining

LocklandsRobert Jackson Bennett
Loved it

the third and final book to one of my favorite fantasy series it didn't make my favorite books of the year but it was still a great read and a fantastic wrap up to a great fantasy Trilogy

Mask of MirrorsM. A. Carrick
Loved it

this book was solidly good I'm gonna put it at the front of solidly good here because I did like it and I will read the sequel but I wouldn't say it was like the most fantastic like new fantasy series I've read recently

Moon CalledUnknown
Loved it

which is book one of Mercy Thompson which I actually liked less than the second book which I think is good because the series is building on each other

Murder of CrowsAnne Bishop
Loved it

this is solidly good this is just a really entertaining urban fantasy series with Slow Burn romance and just a really interesting like urban fantasy Dynamic

Nemesis GamesJames S. A. Corey
Loved it

oh book five of the expanse series I might have to speed up otherwise this video is going to be an hour long so I'll go faster I really liked this a lot I'm gonna put this at the top of great reads at the moment

Nettle & BoneT. Kingfisher
Loved it

I loved this book this was a shock it's like not even 300 Pages it's like a very fairy tale-esque sort of story it was wonderful and just everything I love and sort of fairy tale type of books

Our Violent EndsChloe Gong
Not a fan

I did not like this book unfortunately I found it to be even worse than the first one just lackluster plot lackluster pacing it just unfortunately was not it for me

PiranesiUnknown
Loved it

which was so good I loved this book I love strange weird books and this is one where you should just go in knowing nothing and just kind of experience it

River EnchantedRebecca Ross
Loved it

a really great first book in a new fantasy series this is a very lyrical multi POV tale about an island sort of ripped apart by generational like hatred and Trauma it's really interesting full of magic

RosewaterUnknown
Loved it

definitely one of the weirdest books I've read this year solidly good I wouldn't say it was like a new all-time fave and I wasn't necessarily rushing to read the next one but if you want a very strange sci-fi thriller rose water is one to pick up

The Atlas SixOlivie Blake
Loved it

which I really enjoyed like I thought this book was a lot of fun I know some people love it some people don't but for me it was like such a great dark Academia Cut Throat like obnoxious people it was just really entertaining

it was fine I just think for the concept it was such a cool idea this sort of secret society having to do with maps and it'd be a murder mystery I just feel like the idea was stronger than the execution unfortunately

This book is really bad if I was frustrated about the lack of characterization House of breath and Sky the characterization and the death of Jane Lawrence was even worse it just the character motivations everything about it did not make sense

The goblin Emperor is a great book I'm really happy I finally picked this book up this is a endearing story of like a guy kind of forced into being a king in a kingdom that did not want him there

The HaciendaUnknown
Loved it

this one honestly surprise me with how much I loved it like I was expecting to like it but I was hooked I listened to the audiobook of this and the narrators were just spectacular

The Hod KingUnknown
Loved it

the hot King one of my favorite books of the year for sure this was the strongest book in this quartet which is also one of my favorite series

which I really liked this is another book that obviously has a fantasy reader was hard for me to not include in my top favorites but I don't know it just didn't quite make it there for me it was a great second book in a series though

another favorite book I read this year I'm actually going to put this really high this combines one of my favorite combinations of genres I love reading sort of mystery or murder investigation style stories but in a fantasy world

this is one where like I feel like the first book will be the weakest of the series follows our main character who can speak and communicate with ghosts and it said in Edinburgh and she basically begins to investigate something sketchy that's going on the main character in this is so likable and endearing

The MaidUnknown
Loved it

is solidly good but I'm gonna stick it at the back of good this is a fun closed door murder mystery set in a hotel and I love a closed door murder mystery

this book was good this is a lot of people's favorite book to me it wasn't my favorite book it was like a solid four star read beautiful writing interesting characters

this was a debut in the first book to a new series it had some really strong elements I loved the characters it's a quest structure fantasy story wasn't perfect but I'm excited to see where it goes from here

The Vanishing HalfBrit Bennett
Loved it

this is the book that haunts me because it didn't make my top like favorite top 10 list favorite reads but it was like right there like to leave this book out felt wrong because it's fantastic and if you haven't read it please read it

this book also was one of my worst books of the year but I felt like more hope going into book two I felt that there were some issues but I thought like with development it could be better the concept was really strong I was still very disappointed by it but I think in contrast I did like it a bit more than the sequel

ThistlefootUnknown
Loved it

which I'm gonna put in solidly good I think elements of this book I loved but I don't know if I would say it was great but it was definitely really good

which I love Sylvia Moreno Garcia just one of my favorite authors I feel like this book is a take it or leave it with some people but I loved it's like a Noir style story following like two very unlikable in some ways an unlikely main characters in a like plot to find a missing girl I was hooked by it

this is a very humanized tale of a story of Loki and a witch that was executed by one of the Gods too it's really you just kind of have to read it and experience know what I'm talking about but I'm gonna put this actually here I really liked it

I started this manga series at the end of December and honestly it is so inter entertaining I'm putting this here it's like a historical fantasy manga series about a girl who grew up as a princess and she lived a kind of a sheltered life but everything is sort of flipped upside down after her father was murdered
