It was a whirlwind read at 541 pages, but I really enjoyed it. A dark, whimsical, fantastical middle-grade adventure story, an interesting world, an interesting politics, great characters to follow and cheer for. I think overall I'd give it like a 3.75 four stars.

View all videosI finished A Case of Mice and Murder, and I loved this. This is exactly the type of like cozy murder mystery story I'm looking for when I'm reading this genre. Essentially, I really loved the main character. I thought the case, I really loved the legal case. The mystery case was interesting right to the end.
If you love the Bear and the Night and Gale, this is the book you have been waiting for because I have been waiting for it and I loved it.
Both of these books are some of my favorite books I've read so far this year. I'm obsessed with this series. I love book one, book two, in some ways maybe even better than book one.
Every book just feels better and better than the previous installment. And just the Dandelion Dynasty series is one that I've enjoyed immensely. This was another five-star read for me.
I loved the main character. I thought the sci-fi planet and setting were so interesting. The one bad thing about this book for me is that I guessed like all of the twists halfway through.
This book is so good. It combines elements of like true creepy horror, religious horror with fascinating politics, really likable characters, and a fastmoving plot. I would give this like a 4.5 stars.
It's just very like whimsical and dark and endearing. And I feel like Victoria Schwab put her own twist on some like very well-known vibes that you would find in this setting. And I just really enjoyed it. And I think I'd give it like 3.75 four stars.
I wouldn't say this book is perfect. The plot gets a little convoluted, especially at the end, but I will say it was shocking and I thought the overall concept was really clever and dark. I would give this like four stars.
It just kind of felt like a gift. This was an easy five out of five star read. Like truly, no notes would change nothing. This is just one of the best fantasy books I've ever read.
So overall, I would say this book was entertaining and interesting, but was also kind of missing the punch that I was expecting from the narrative, and I would give this like three stars.
This was full of adventure. I loved the characters. I thought it had a meaningful message that was portrayed well. It was just a super engaging and very entertaining story and I would give this like five stars.
Obviously a little tricky to talk about the eighth book in a series, but what I will say is that I loved it. And I did give Creative Horribables five stars. I won't lie.
One thing I will say, the plot was very engaging, but I felt like it was missing some characterization, especially for our main character. But this was fun, and I would recommend it. I'd give it like a 3.5 stars.
I also love the novella. I would give everything I'm showing off here five stars. So good. Like truly read this.
Conceptually, I love all the ideas of this. I love a serialized detective story. I love that it has supernatural elements, but I'll be honest, I really struggled with the main characters voice and humor. It just really wasn't my style of comedy, so it constantly sort of pulled me out of the story.
The series is just impeccable. I could read like a million books following these characters. This one might be my least favorite of the three, but I still loved it.
In general, I felt like this was a very effective horror story that again has some really fun twists on some well-known horror things. Like a great fall read for sure. I always love TKen Fischer. Like four stars.
I wouldn't say this was perfect. Specifically, the end felt a little bit rushed to me, but it was thrilling. Like, I had a hard time putting this book down. I was locked in from page one.
I loved this book. I loved the setting. I loved the writing. Beautiful mix of historical fiction and fantasy with a delightful writing style as you would expect from Katherine Arden. 4.5 stars.
It wasn't bad by any means. I was entertained while reading it, but it also didn't really have the emotional impact I was expecting. Like nothing bad, but nothing extraordinary.
That book is quite jaunty, quite adventure-filled, and in fact centers a main character that is in this book, too. The Black Tongue Thief is a much jauntier ride.
He's also written The Black Tongue Thief and Between Two Fires, other horror mixed with fantasy stories that are just so incredible.
That was a book I really wanted to love, and I thought I was going to. I thought it was great in the intro, and then it sort of lost me by the end.
