the top 10 books I read in 2022

Reviews11

in the second book we expand the scope some and it is much more like Space Opera but it is a war that is being fought on this like battlefield of communication so it is a lot about language

primarily for all of the Thematic content and everything that it explores the first book is much more like Palace Intrigue and it talks a lot about like appreciating the art that comes out of Empire and like the difficulty of that of being able to see the beauty and appreciate the art but still being under the thumb of the empire

I thought that this was very effective whether or not you might enjoy it depends on if you want to be like submerged into the super creepy atmosphere and then pulled out and sent Along on your Merry way

I think my favorite is probably book eight magic shifts and that's an interesting favorite I feel like because it actually shifts the series a little bit it's a bit of a reset because I believe at 1.7 was supposed to be the last book but the reason that I really loved it is that it kind of goes back to like early Kate days in terms of feeling more like a procedural but with all of the characters that you've built up all of this love and feelings for so it's the best of both worlds

I love quest fantasies so I'm like down where are we going next who's joining the gang I want all of it and especially here where all of the characters just were so fun they were each unique in some way

I love weird books this was so weird and I enjoyed the crap out of it also from a craft standpoint is exactly what I enjoy from a collection of short stories

I was super impressed by how in such a short period of time I was immediately hooked by these characters I loved watching all of the Dynamics between the main family

I find her writing very accessible and almost deceptively simple I love it isn't very showy but there is something about it that just envelops you into her story and that is absolutely what happened here

I think the thing about this that stuck with me the most is just the voice of the main character she has got such a strong and well-developed narrative voice and it is full of the seeming contradictions so there is something very childlike and almost naive about her

there were things that I wish that this had done differently like thematically it also was just a really hard emotional experience I felt like it was all down so I just felt like it was devastating the whole time ... but if I take away like all of the Thematic stuff right the things that I wish it were saying we're left with the story that I just think was incredibly effective
