2024 Reading Stats & Book Awards

a lot of people have talked about Rebecca Ross the last handful of years and I haven't really gotten into her until this year when I read the like Divine Rivals I don't know the actual series name but yeah ... I quite enjoyed her writing

the biggest surprise was actually hurricane Wars ... then I read it and I was like I enjoyed this like I enjoyed this enough to like get the second one I liked it yeah

most unique plot is definitely projections by Essie Porter I talked about this book at length right around the October time when I read it ... this book is so weird and different and unique and slow

A runner up honorable mention goes to the Deep Sky by Yumi katas this is a Sci-Fi close Circle mystery on a Generation ship ... the book really like subverts what you expect from some of this like tropy but it also convinces you that it's still going to go in that direction and then it doesn't yeah it was really well done

this is a book that didn't necessarily make my favorites although it could maybe be a runner up because there are things about it that felt a little bit more distant for me ... it just didn't quite work for me in some areas because it just was a little bit more distant than I subjectively like for my reading and everything but the writing and craft of this is unmatched

favorite protagonist definitely anuse from to shape a dragon's breath I talked about this in my favorites video ... she's great she was such like an unexpected character for me and yeah I adore her and I can't wait to get back to that world when there's more books

favorite friendship was Adney and good hild from the Weaver and the witch Queen by jenie Gorn the these two like sort of Blood Oath sisters who come back together as adults ... but their friendship is just like so beautiful and supportive and lovely and I adore it

the other one is where piece is lost by Valerie Valdez this is a Sci-Fi story that is a standalone and it just is like such nice sci-fi ... I just really liked this and I think this could get a way more hype for people

the witch and the Zar that I've talked about a lot recently because I read towards the end of the year but people love the winter night trilogy and if you love the winter night trilogy you will probably love this so this just deserves like winter night trilogy almost status in my opinion
