I read 103 pages of this so I gave it a solid try and my notes on this where that it was slow it wasn't really gripping me and there's too many characters so there's like too many povs

Sarat alifi does a really good job I think of setting up like cool world things but then she like adds too many like layers and you're just like and then she loses track of it
this is by far my least favorite Emily Henry book I barely remember anything about it to be honest we read it for book club I think I gave it two stars it really didn't git me
my notes say that this was unbelievable romances which I do remember that there was like some love triangly romance stuff that I was just like this is coming out nowhere
this was just like fine I mean it was one of my least favorite of the year like it stood out as least favorite but it was also like a three star
it was like fine there was like a romance element to it but there was just like a lot of misogyny and like abuse of her in a way that I was like I don't want to really be reading about this
it just kept being like the same beats of like here's this thing about super villainy that felt very similar to like here's this thing about working with Kaiju and I just like I don't need to do this again
lots of dense confusing World building with names and a number of different elements that are interesting but needs heavy editing
there were parts of that I liked because that's like a sort of fantasy Revolution type story but again there's just like it's not tight enough for me like there's just so many loose threads
then all of a sudden it switches to like high tension like really out of nowhere stakes and it just like did not work for me it felt like two completely separate books
