books I love enough for everyone

Gideon the NinthTamsyn Muir
Loved it

But this is a weird series. It tackles a lot of weird themes and it's very hard to follow. it's lesbian necromancers in space... I love necromancy. If like themes are explored in a book that I really enjoy, it's again, the vibes and the themes are going to take me pretty far.

Juniper and ThornAva Reid
Loved it

This is the kind of horror that I really enjoy. It's the kind of like gothic horror, very visceral. I love body horror specifically... I really enjoy what Ava Reed explores thematically. I really enjoy their writing and again the vibes of their writing.

King of ScarsLeigh Bardugo
Not a fan

I don't love the King of Scars duology and I think the series starts to fall apart there and that's why I'm glad she's not super writing in the Gishaverse as much anymore.

Mask of MirrorsM. A. Carrick
Loved it

This has a like sort of Venetian inspired setting and magic system, but also is very heavily like sort of court intrigue you know politics and in-groups and outgroups... This I love. This has so many like themes of different like types of magic and magic systems and the magic is so interesting and different than what we've seen in other books.

Nona the NinthTamsyn Muir
Mixed

Like especially the most recent book Nona the Ninth like truly don't understand most of what happened in that book. But I enjoyed the vibes as you're seeing here.

ShorefallRobert Jackson Bennett
Loved it

This is a second book, Shorefall. This series I love so much. One of my favorite fantasy series of all time... another series that I should really reread, the last book. Masterful.

Siege and StormLeigh Bardugo
Loved it

I'm holding up Siege and Storm because it's my favorite in the series by Lee Bardugo. Alina is one of my favorite characters of all time. The Darkling is one of my favorite villains of all time.

The Night Circus is my favorite book of all time and I don't care if other people don't love it. And I also get why other people don't love it... The writing is immaculate. I think the character work is also immaculate.

I love this series, but I get really why people don't like it as the series goes on... I loved the way it changed. I love genre bending speculative fiction and fantasy and things that blend all of those like speculative genres together.

Same thing with The Starless Sea. These are books that I think of and imagine things from so frequently that yeah, when people are like, "Oh, it's boring. Oh, it's just vibes or what?" Okay, that's fine. I love them and I will love them forever.
