Best Fantasy I Read in 2025 | Backlist

And the story and the writing and everything I felt to be very rich. I just really enjoyed this one.

I love the grittiness of the series. I love the characters that felt well-developed and complex and nuanced and I just had a really good time.

A lot of people know him by Foundry Side, which I love that trilogy. It's just really fun.

While I think I still prefer the film more, which might be an unpopular opinion, I still really appreciate and enjoyed seeing the original work. Obviously, it's on this list, so I did have a good time with it.

Great banter, good action. And I'm not someone who often enjoys or appreciates good action on a page. But because of the nature of this one, I just felt like it was really well described and again just had a great time with it.

Again, his writing is fantastic. It's rich, the world building was so interesting, and you have these characters who you will immediately become attached to.

I really enjoyed the companion series, not as much as the original one, but I think it was a really good return to the world.

Frankly, the reason that this book is on the bottom of the list is just because I do have a preference for epic over urban, but as a piece of urban fantasy, I thought that this one was very well done.
