RANKING the 12 SCI FI books I read in October 2024.

I thought that the Worldbuilding in this book was great... I give Bloom 8 out of 10 it's a stellar Splender

years ago I read crash which put me off Ballard for many many years... having read crash and disliked it so much I'm mainly pleased that I didn't hate the crystal world

the characters were maybe a little bit Bland and not a lot happened... I give it 7 out of 10 a planetary pleasure

this was eternal light by Paul McCauley which I was looking forward to reading but a couple of factors made it a bit of a SLO for me and I've decided to just put it down halfway through... I don't think I'm dnfing it I'm simply parking

within 50 pages of starting Hopeland I was hooked... I give Hopeland a somewhat surprising 10 out of 10 it's a slam dunk Galactic Gem

it was like being plugged in direct into my brain or cyberpunk... I give Neuromancer 9 out of 10 it's a galactic gem

because it's a fix up a series of separate stories really I felt that it was a little bit disjointed and I found my interest waning by about halfway through... overall I give The Pilgrimage by Zena Henderson 6 out of 10

I think it's a very strong debut and I give salt eight out of 10 it's a Stella Splender

I'd heard mixed reports and before going in so I was a little bit wary but I was presently surprised... I give some desperate Glory 7 out of 10 a planetary pleasure

whilst there were some standouts I give spring tide seven out 10 a planetary pleasure

this I must say was great fun... I give take back plenty by Colin Greenland nine out of 10 it's a galactic gem

for a 65y old book I think it holds up surprisingly well... I give the caves of Steel 7 and a half out of 10

I don't think it's my favorite late era Banks but I give the hydrogen snata an 8 out of 10 it is a stellar Splender

I really like the dynamic between Reena and Steven... I give the boy on the bridge an enjoyable eight out of 10 it's a Stella Splender
