This is the five books of the Song of Ice and Fire first three books truly up here books four and five I mean maybe down to here it's a tough one but I think I'm gonna put it truly outstanding at the top.

The thing that I love most about these three books is the fact that it really shows abercrombie's scope as an author because it shows in best serve cold that he wrote a grimdark Revenge tale.
The biggest flaw I think is just the characters feel like characters from a DND campaign that don't have a lot of depth but it was still delightful. I have a soft spot in my heart for Dragonlance.
I reread this very recently like two or three years ago and I was very pleasantly surprised this is a big Improvement on the Chronicles series because it focuses on four characters three of them from the Chronicles so you're able to give them a lot more depth.
I had trouble getting into it part of it her prose is very dense additionally I found the six books kind of uneven. I did enjoy Earthsea quite a bit and I'll revisit it again years from now.
He used the same tropes the same Tolkien derivations all of the same formulas and the illenium is a series of addings that I can seriously say that you can skip because the characters I didn't care for any of them.
Assassin's Quest is representing of course Farseer Trilogy. I love the Farseer Trilogy quite a bit it's a truly outstanding book series and I just read it last year and I can't wait to reread it.
The one thing I really liked about the series is I loved how each book got more complex as the kids in the story got older. I have major problems with the ending but I think it's truly outstanding.
I also read the duology Condor Sons which is two books Prince of the Blood and the King's Buccaneer and I really enjoyed this one some aspects I liked more but I wouldn't call it truly outstanding.
The liveship Traders which is the second series in Realm of the Elderlings and it is a home run of a series and it is one of the best fantasy series you'll read. I don't necessarily like nautical fantasies but I still think it's one of the best you can read anywhere.
Mistborn era 2 is kind of the mashup between the Western and the fantasy and I know a lot of people don't like it because of that but I like westerns so I'm enjoying this one and I like how it's building. I don't think it's ready for the outstanding tier quite yet.
I really enjoyed Mistborn Era One. I love the characters. To this day it's still my favorite hard magic system that I have read.
Most reviewers say that this is their least favorite of the four series and I would agree with that but I love the world building in this one I loved all the dragons in this one. I really enjoyed it.
And then Red country there are not many fantasy elements at all it's kind of just a western. I think it's a truly outstanding set of books that are definitely worth your time.
It's formulaic it's derivative it has every Trope in the book but it also has clever characters that you care for characters that you love and if you don't mind the old school tropes you'll probably love the Bulgarian and I do. I think it's truly outstanding.
I read the Chronicles of Narnia and I felt Narnia was a distant third even as a 12 year old I found the Christian allegory just heavy-handed and I just didn't connect with it.
This was my very first book series that I ever read sixth grade and I reread it this January and I found it was still just pretty delightful. I love the brave ending that he had.
The Dark Tower series has some of the most boldest and bravest storytelling you will find anywhere and I think it's a clear-cut best of the best in the fantasy genre.
First law Trilogy is one of probably the gold standard for Grim Dark Fantasy. I think it is clearly best of the best.
These great Tales are very good I mean I felt like I was reading things of importance but there I wouldn't say they're in the outstanding category. I would say they're just kind of in the good degree but more on the great side of things.
I enjoyed enough of the sword Trilogy to read this Trilogy hoping that maybe this would be the series that I continue from my youth but a lot of it fell flat for me. There's one character in this book series that is an overly reluctant hero for three and a half books and it just drove me insane.
And then the heroes is a military fantasy. I think it's a truly outstanding set of books that are definitely worth your time.
Lord of the Rings I mean do we have to talk about it. I mean they're great what else can I say.
Eddings takes the same characters adds a couple new ones but takes the same tropes and basically tries to tell you the same series again and unfortunately it doesn't have the same impact and it's a big drop off. I think is quite middling.
I think it's borderline truly outstanding and good to great and that's personal for me the thing I didn't like is a lot of it is a military fantasy which is not my favorite sub-genre so I think it's on the great end of things.
What I liked about this series is it's kind of a epic one story split into three parts and it's good it's very good I love the protagonist. This is one of the most bold endings for a book series that I've read.
Of all the classic series I read in the 80s this is the one upon reread I felt the most compelling to continue more into the universe and I think it's a really great series.
The shattered sea Trilogy by Joe Abercrombie and this is the one that's kind of Forgotten a bit and it shouldn't be I think it's very good. It's a departure for Joe although it eventually becomes kind of a character study it's a lot more plot focused than his other Tales it's very fast paced.
All of the post Lord of the Rings stuff that Christopher Tolkien put out is kind of in that b tier in my mind including the silmarillion and unfinished Tales even though those are probably the two best.
With four books in it's really incredible. I can't say that it's S here yet. I think Oathbringer and Rhythm of War both had plotting problems.
I love The Elfstones and this is again some rereads and Wishsong was real close but then he kind of ruined it at the end of it but I thought it was still pretty good. I loved it as a child.
I think Tawny Man is better. The emotional impact of the Tawny Man trilogy in many ways following Fitz's story after the farseer trilogy was so stupendous. I liked it a little bit more than liveship Traders.
The Wheel of Time obviously the one that's known most as the bridge between classic fantasy and more modern fantasy is actually the series that really got me back into just loving this genre so much once again. When I read this in 2019 I think Wheel of Time is one of the best series out there and definitely an S tier for me.
The Witcher short stories truly outstanding really great kind of monster the week little vignettes but the novels man the novels are lousy. I can't recommend the novels.
It's low fantasy it's kind of a parallel world where the protagonist wakes up in our world and it's Epic Fantasy in Disguise. I have a lot of admiration for Chronicles Amber I think it's really great.
If you like just old school sword and sorcery soft magic Conan is on all apologetically barbaric just as his title and I really enjoyed these I think he deserves a spot good to great I think they were fantastic.
