In theory, I thought this could be fun, but in execution, I didn't enjoy it very much at all. It's a beautiful book though and I'm sure someone else out there will enjoy it more than me.
Massive Book Unhaul! (physical TBR take down 📚)
It was cute and fun kind of. It was sold as like a ghost romance which I was so curious about... but that was not a part of how things played out which I was pretty disappointed by.
I've read stories like Shark Heart or Midnight Library, all highly rated, all beloved, and I kind of walk away from them feeling annoyed. They just don't really land, they're a little too over the top, a little too saccharine.
Unfortunately, I just don't think Rachel Gillig is for me. Her concepts always pull me in, but the execution always leaves me wanting a little bit more.

I think I had like a moment of weakness cuz I did enjoy The Night Circus, so I picked up a few circusy books.
I liked this. I didn't love it. A knight romance novel that actually had great angst and yearning in the beginning between our two main characters, a mage and his sworn knight protector, but I felt like the book really lost steam halfway through.
Honestly, not a terrible book, just wasn't my favorite, and I do think the author got a little too cute with the ending. And when it comes to mystery thrillers, the endings are key, and this just wasn't my favorite, not even close, so unhaul.
