The WORST Books I Read in 2024! (so many popular disappointments)

unfortunately though I felt like this book Was Won way too long I also found the romance between Cassie and Nesta to not be very romantic I think my main issue with this book though was just there was an overall lack of like yearning and romantic pacing

I found elements of this book to be like really intriguing and parts of it really had me on the edge of my seat but given that this is a thriller mystery story I found the ending to be like a little bit of a letdown and like all that tension that the author sort of built up throughout the story sort of fizzled out in kind of a non-ending

the first 50% of this book was like a five out of five star read the Romany writing was intriguing and intoxicating I loved the historical setting I loved the hint of magic like everything about it was like checking all of my Romany boxes but then the second half of this book I felt like the plot like imploded and the characters began to act incredibly out of character

I will say with golden sun there were some definite improvements compared to Red Rising I felt like the story sort of was redirected and the scope of the story was much larger and much more interesting... it wasn't necessarily bad but I would say I'd give it like a three out of five stars and I was hoping for it to be like a five out of five star read

honestly the strongest part of this book is definitely that sort of w they won't they and the romance but I was really let down by like the fantasy world building the plotting of like the magic our character's motivations but more than anything the side characters

I read Red Rising last year and also did not like it very much... My issues with red Rising was the writing style the characterization particularly with the female characters and the sort of hyper emphasis on plot twist to the point where I felt like the plotting itself was not very exciting

I just found some elements of the plot to be really rushed and underdeveloped especially in comparison to like the Deep introspection that we got in her previous release I just felt like this book felt a little unpolished and unfinished and I just wasn't overly in love with kind of how everything sort of played out

this book again is another example of it wasn't like bad or terrible it's more that it was just kind of okay and I had much higher expectations for it and was kind of like let down by it in the end

everything about this book I did not enjoy from the pacing to the characterization to the writing style to the length everything about this book basically let me down in every single way and that book is the games Gods play by Abigail Owens

I thought it was fine I thought it was good but I really wanted to love it and I thought I was going to but unfortunately just landed a little bit short for me
