My Top 10 Favourite Fantasy Books (& Series)

Reviews10

it felt like fantasy in its truest form it was so wonderful to read so engaging I loved again the characters and the plot I just felt completely wrapped up in a truly magical world reading this book I was so impressed Patricia a McKillip rating is also stunning she has a wonderful way with words and is real treat reading her prose

these are dark these are gritty real tragedy takes place in these books but at the same time they are so beautifully written they are slow paced but engaging and you feel so immersed in the world and just love reading about the characters and what's happening with them and what's going to happen with them and I could not put either book in the seas I read so far down I needed to know what was going to happen I felt so compelled by their stories and loved Juliet Marley's writings

Dragon keeperRobin Hobb
Loved it

Robin hobb is a spectacular writer her writing is beautiful she creates such well-rounded interesting characters and relationships and these are sort of multiple perspective stories you get to learn a little bit from each person's perspective and their stories all tied together and it's just wonderful I love the Dragons I love the cat of the humans it's just brilliant

Equal RitesTerry Pratchett
Loved it

equal rights is sort of a standalone and start at the beginning of a series because it does introduce characters that then become central to a series of books afterwards and it's all about the first female wizard in the Discworld she is the seventh daughter of the seventh son which means if she'd been a boy she was meant to be a wizard but she's a girl so she becomes a wizard anyway

EragonChristopher Paolini
Loved it

it's just wonderful it's intricately woven fantastic characters some really fantastic female characters and high fantasy which can sometimes be lacking but those some characters are really loved in there and Saphira arrogance dragon is my favorite dragon of all time she is the perfect dragon absolutely love the cities

Going PostalTerry Pratchett
Loved it

going postal is perhaps my all-time favorite this one that follows most of on that big who is an ex-con man and is enlisted by the patrician of the capital to revamp the post office bring it back of disrepair and it's just brilliant sounds like a weird concept but really fantastic

Kissing the WitchEmma Donoghue
Loved it

so this is actually a collection of interweaving fairy tale retellings and what I mean by interweaving is the same character from each story becomes a central character of the next story and it retails classic fairy tales like Snow White that you are familiar with however in these fairy tale retellings the women are at the center saving themselves or saving one another princesses and witches become heroes and more often than not women fall in love with other women is so beautiful

The Portable DoorTom Holt
Loved it

I just could not stop laughing when I was reading this book it had me physically laughing out loud and I just think that's such a treat with literature I love being able to laugh so heartily at what I'm reading and I thought Tom Horne's imagination and sense of humor was just brilliant and it was so funny finding out what was going on in this weird slightly magical world of London

The Wee Free MenTerry Pratchett
Loved it

lastly the wee free men is actually one of two patches young adult books in the disc whirls and it falls Tiffany King whose young girl that discovers she's actually a witch and has to save her brother from the fairies with the help of these small Pixies which are called the wee free men under stay in difficult ginger crazy Scottish warriors but also little fillies and they're just brilliant I love all three of those books

Tooth and ClawJo Walton
Loved it

I love these characters I felt so attached to them even though there was no humans in their story really there is some references to perhaps human-like race but they're kind of irrelevant to the overall plot which I'm totally okay with and I love this concept I think it was so unique I wish there was more book set in this world I wish it wasn't a standalone but I'm not sure if that's going to happen
