I revisited Fire Upon the Deep and did not like it nearly as much on second read-through four or five years later.
Get In Loser, We're Going Spacefaring
A book that I didn't like very much... I did finish it but I didn't really like it.
It's my favorite new space opera book, and I also think that it is sort of middling. Middling in exactly the way that all the other new space opera books are middling.
It's pretty dry. It's a little Asimov-y, but it is like a slow burn Philip K. Dick thriller that offers some pretty genuinely unnerving horror elements. Nevertheless, you should read it.
He really it's like Lord of Light and I guess Dream Master. Dream Master definitely my favorite.
He's the writer who did wrote even one might say Woman in the Dunes, which is in my top five non-science fiction novels. Love that book.
