View all videosI found it unputdownable like absolutely. So engaging. And I really love it.
I just adore it. It's really good.
Because Jade frickin Daniels, everybody is one of my favorite characters in the last five year period. End of story. She's amazing.
I might like Vampires of El Nortea smidge more, but I like the romance in that more.
And I really enjoy it. So yeah, love Lone Woman.
But the Hacienda, we got a haunted ranch. It is so creepy. It is the best haunted ranch in terms of chills down your spine.
It's just classic kingfisher whimsy and creepy and like, I had a really fun time. The vultures are very cool.
It was quick. It was engaging. I had a good time.
It's dark, it's atmospheric, it's gothic, a little wonky in its pacing as a debut work, but like, it's real good.
If you're someone who likes the idea of something like House of leaves, but you don't have the energy for something like House of leaves, I think this gives you a good enough taste.
It's pretty creepy. Like I could not read this when I was home alone. I didn't really want to read this at night.
But this was very good, and it's a really good discussion about grief and repressed traumas and not coming to terms with who you loved.
I just really love Mariana Enriquez. I think she's great. I think she's got a very weird mind for horror in a way that I really connect to.
It's very good. It's not my favorite to not only do, but it's my favorite that came out in the last five years.
Oh, I love her. I've read her four times. She's amazing. If you have not tried the mask of mirrors again, you got to give it a go.
Priya and Melanie and the messiness of the different gods and the occupation and the yearning. It's really good. Probably my favorite book in the sapphic trifecta.
And I was fresh off of graduating, about to graduate, with my PhD. And it was just delightful. It was reminding me of Stardust, the movie.
And then I buddy read it with some friends, and then I think I loved it the most. And I have read it three times and I've read the whole series. It's really good.
Jade City is a really strong opening book and Jade legacy is a very strong conclusion.
I also really love the lost metals. So it was close for me. I think Lost Metal is a little more bombastic. I gave myself a migraine.
I'm really am happy that this book has been finding its audience because I read it the year it came out and like no one was really talking about it. This is truly it loves its genre and it's so imaginative and unique.
The strongest is Wall of Storms for me, in terms of like having all the checkmarks on all the boxes. But if you don't like Grace of Kings that much, I say read the first 200 to 300 pages of Wall of Storm and you'll know real soon if you actually you're going to like it, because the pacing really does change dramatically.
And I Jade legacy is maybe my second favorite in that series. It's neck and neck with Jade city. Jade City is a really strong opening book and Jade legacy is a very strong conclusion.
