Only gave it two stars. Salem's Lot. I'm not a fan of Stephen King.
the worst & most disappointing books I read in 2025 (& what NOT to add to your tbr)
- Biggest Disappointments of 2025 · 18 books
Doesn't hold the same impact as the first one. I feel like there was things that were put in it simply for shock value and not because they actually needed to happen. Kind of reverses a lot of the things and consequences that happened within the first one as well.
Honestly, Unkindness Magicians, one of my favorites. I read reread it. Still stands because I was like, I don't know, maybe I have read it so long ago. Still great.
I found it kind of boring at times and just not as compelling as I thought it was going to be. And as much as, you know, it really did tear on the heartstrings, I just don't think it's the book for me.
I disliked reading this so much. I ranted on stream for like 2 hours about this.
I wanted to get it. I wanted to like it and I didn't. So, anyway, won't be continuing that series.
I tend to love Emily Henry, but this one was such a dud. I think Emily Henry was trying to do something different and it didn't go well because so much of her reader base is based in keeping things very similar.
DNFed this because it was going in a really creepy direction and I looked up reviews cuz I was like, is this where I think it was going? And it sure was. And I was like, I ain't down with that because seemed a little non-consensual in terms
I hated all parts of it. Didn't like any of the storytelling.
If we were villains, was one of my all-time favorite books. It act at one point it was what I was known for.
I got at least 25% of the way through this and just was I just didn't like it. I don't I don't really care for the world. I felt like it was just really slowgoing.
overall it just was a really boring book for me. I just don't like any book that takes 65% if not more to just get through the synopsis.
They were all really bad and there's literally like five pages of just famous people's names. That's it. That that was the story.
It was interesting enough to read, but at the end of the day, I just was expecting more.
There were some standout moments in this where I was like, 'This is really cool.' Like, I like this world building. I like these characters, but at the end of the day, like, there just wasn't enough compelling content to just keep me going.
I just feel like I just didn't connect with Oak and Saurin as much as I really wanted to.
Thursday Murder Club was just so boring. So boring. I really thought that we were going to get like oldie solving a murder, but man, we are just down into the nittygritty of like old these people in this like retirement home just like making up drama and getting into I just didn't care.
this is the first time I feel like I've read a horror where I've been like it's too much. It's actually too much for me. Not necessarily in like levels of gore, although there is that.
