just like I said before he has such his finger on the pulse of Americana and this time travel story and that's tough to do too this time travel story to that fateful moment where America lost its innocence what will we do to get it back should we get it back what are the prices we pay to grow up and lose that naivete as a culture as a country as a nation all these questions and of course the amazing character work
if I was to give somebody a book that says this is Stephen King this is what he can do it's going to be my number two pick and it's going to be different seasons this is four novellas and it is like a sample of a different flavor of what he can do it is a Coming of Age it is character work it is every strength that he has and every ending ties up beautifully with a bow
I every one of the losers Club I was that kid I love that kid I want to follow that kid to the gates of hell and I thought it was such an amazing stroke of Genius having the caricatures come back around in their older age... it's still a little bit cringe I don't think he got there
it is so delightfully done in misery when you take a look at fanaticism and fan interaction with their whatever it is they're adoring being an author an actor you know the fill in the blank and he did it to such killing effect in misery I absolutely thought this was done to perfection
this is more of a detective story a world weary detective kind of at the end in being pulled back into a case that he just couldn't let go of I just loved this it was just and I think because just like I read that coming of age stuff when I needed it I read this when I was feeling a little bit whirl weary and a little bit a little bit rubbed thin and he just captured that feeling for me
in the short form I find he hits it out of the park every time it's so hard to compress that character work and compress it with a punch and a story that delivers and time and time again in the short form Stephen King never lets you down and he showed that early on in his career with this book of short stories called night shift and it is still one of my favorite collections of all time every story in it is an absolute Banger
which is an amazing pasticher homage to Lovecraft and others that paved the way for Cosmic horror and you talk about an artist or an author that sometimes looked for an ending not in this one man he went there he totally goes there and goes all in on the cosmic heart and I absolutely loved it
the haunted hotel The Overlook Hotel and The Shining again a coming-of-age story again a little bit of Eugene O'Neill's theme of us paying for the sins of our fathers it was all put together to such amazing effect and I think one of the best haunted stories I've ever read and I absolutely adored it
post-apocalyptic look at the ongoer on ongoing never-ending battle between good and evil with amazing character work it's an amazing look at it's amazing look at our culture and Country after it is all Fallen... it's still today ranks as my favorite Stephen King book and that is why it comes in at number one
I would have to put his Gunslinger Series in my top fantasy series of all time and for me Wizarding glass stands out about that and why I think is because I love Arthurian Legends he has just enough of that running through there he has just enough of the coming of age running through there because we get to go back in the main character the iconic character the Gunslinger Roland deshane and go back to his earlier life and see his first content and what went right and what went horribly wrong
