A lot of the scenes were so authentic and not sugarcoated at all. Even though it's a difficult topic and some scenes were hard to read. You can really see Cadence's love for her son, but also how much she struggles around alcohol.

This book is refreshing and I'm going to try to do it justice. I think the best part and the most unique part of this book is that a lot of it is narrated by Scotty, who is actually a personification of crack cocaine, the drug itself.
Her writing did have more dialogue than I think the average novel, but considering the large cast of characters, I think she did a really good job with it. The one critique that I had was that a lot of these events were very set up for the characters.
This book is beautiful and is really touching and unlike anything else that I've seen out there.
I've enjoyed the art style because it made me feel like I was there. There are a lot of existential themes throughout the book... I finished this book in one night because I totally could not put it down.
