i think this was way too slow moving and i totally understood why it was it was supposed to be a character study but ultimately because all of the conflicts could have been resolved by a character just communicating one thing it made it really difficult to care about the characters in that slow moving plot but i think it was inventive and interesting and i liked how it looked at a world in the future post pandemic

this book makes me feel the way fan fiction feels like safe and at home and loved it employs tropes while managing to surprise you and it builds up an absolutely kick-ass romance that you will go farrell for this was one of the biggest y.a books of 2020 for a reason and i loved it
i read the entire final comic of check please smiling ear to ear while sobbing and i think that is a perfect summary of my emotions regarding this whole series
this book nails a lot about grief and explores a really complicated sister relationship expertly one of the main characters is safic and has a girlfriend from the beginning of the book there are discussions of economic disparity and how that economic disparity shows up from new york to the dominican republic
i love when a book helps me like rediscover why i love a particular age group or genre and that's absolutely what felix ever after did for me queerbye contemporary is obviously my jam always in forever and i feel like this book hit every single point as to why that is
this is like captivating it completely blew me away on every single page this is about the friends we have it's also about a friend that dana's lost it's full of so much love and hope but also really hits on so many hard elements and i am positive i'm going to continue to read and love dennis's work like from here on out forever this is just superb
the biggest issue with this is that it's repetitive as hell if you read the first five stories you've kind of read the whole collection like it just keeps hitting you over the head with the same themes again and again and again it just feels repetitive but there are a few really stand out stories that work
this is teeth achingly cute like it's adorable and it's definitely not steamy at all it's just ultimately it's very short but i love a good bookish romance and it absolutely piqued my interest to read more of jack harbin's work so i think it's absolutely worth it for that as well
i picked this book up because i wanted gothic horror i wanted something to give me the feel of classic gothic horror and that's exactly what i got it's a slow building dread it's the knowledge that there's something underneath the surface that you're not seeing and that's what's frightening
ultimately i think it's pretty unnecessary it's way too long edward talks and [ __ ] and moans way too much there are some fun little like tidbits you can learn if you're a big fan of the series but that's it
it does very cool things with the narrative style and i can't talk about some of the other stuff it does because there's so much about this that's you have to experience it like it takes you on a ride especially in the last few pages i think it's a journey worth going on
i liked jaya a lot i didn't need to hear from gray he's just this brooding whiny bad boy and i don't care because i'm a lesbian i'm sorry it felt aggressively heterosexual and that's fine it just didn't hold my interest i loved seeing the like beauty and the beast story elements because i always love a retelling there were just elements of this that didn't quite work for me
natalie's use of language is just incredible it is so expansive and there's so much here to just sift through and i was so fascinated by the ideas of colonization of the body and how natalie was working through that so like there's a lot here it's very complex as a poetry collection but i loved it
look if you're gonna read this book just get ready to be sad as [ __ ] but in a way that i think works it's beautifully written and so emotional and like there were so many moments reading this book where i had to stop underline a phrase and then just sit there and think about it because it would completely take my breath away
this is cute and it's super uplifting i think it focuses on one storyline way too much there's an element with rick and his best friend that i think is just less fleshed out and i would have loved to see more pages dedicated to the story lines that worked better however i think this book would be absolutely perfect for like a middle school library
i think this had a lot of potential and it's like a super slow burn it isn't very steamy and i think the slow burn might be a little too slow for some people i think i would have liked this less if i wasn't obsessed with stories about fame and sexuality which is what this is plus one of the main characters has asthma and that's like a thing that's frequently reflected upon and it was really cool to see that representation
i've loved love loved noel for years and i love the way i love i love the way he talks about mental health it's it just rings so true to me in my heart and soul i love this highly recommend
this book has a very surreal tone i was expecting it to be more like annihilation and i think this leaned to the absurd in certain elements more than the like [ __ ] up mysterious it's kind of meandering it could have been handled better and it is not on voices for either the trans or native rep but as a story about grief and people not taking certain kinds of grief seriously it just really hit home for me
i had a hard time with how the points of view were split up because we were following marion for so long and then the portion of the book that wasn't from his perspective was all one chunk or almost one chunk so there was just so much time without marian and when that was the stuff i liked more it just made that middle bit not work as well for me
the biggest issue with this book is that it is bogged down by way too many point of view characters which means there's no suspense and all of the reveals are completely undercut i did not like the romance i didn't really care for most of the characters
the way that caitlyn starling writes horror and queer attraction between women is like phenomenal because she writes about like [ __ ] up sapphic love and horror mixed with the gays is a personal favorite of mine so well this was a little confusing it was still atmospheric and great
this handles so many topics so incredibly well like masterfully handled elements of race sexuality economic inequality toxic friendships coming of age first queer romance coming out being yourself like it's a source of simple joy but it's also an exploration of all of these different things
