My Favourite Books of 2023

I absolutely loved this writing style this is one of those books where I started reading it and was immediately like God this is just precisely the sort of writing style I really enjoy very much like Slice of Life really small details

Loved it

this book is brilliant I think in that it discusses a really difficult topic but does it all with a real lack of judgment and allows you to see from both Tom and Ring's perspective

Birnam WoodEleanor Catton
Loved it

I read the first couple of pages and it's quite a weird introduction because you're introduced to the area of land where the lands sliders happen which is not that captivating and I usually think it's better to introduce us to a character first but by Page four I was hooked I've read this very quickly I found it super readable

KalaColin Walsh
Loved it

it's beautifully written super lyrical some people would perhaps find this overwritten I thought it was beautiful I highly recommend the audio in particular the person who narrates mush it just brilliant

this book is very thoughtful the writing style is excellent I tabbed a few sections just about the sort of the way someone's mind works I think she wrote really beautifully and I'm really excited to see where she goes

yeah I had a great time reading it this wasn't a festar read for me because I felt that ultimately the payoff of the sort of more meta structure wasn't entirely successful

I thought this was absolutely phenomenal and in particular the audio book was banging I kept being like there's a few narrators for this one as well
