while you don't necessarily need a plot you do need a point and that's what this was lacking try to find the point of this book was like trying to find Nemo in the desert
the WORST books i read in 2024 (next they should write an apology)

I will say that every individual sentence was well crafted I just found it so convoluted and exhausting to read and I'll be honest the juice just wasn't worth the squeeze
this one is more like a horror Nolla it was definitely horrifying just not necessarily in the way that the author intended just the writing jump scare you know for me this just totally misses the mark
I loved ml Rio's previous book if we were villains that book is immersive it's clever it's written in conversation with the dark Academia genre but also Shakespeare
at least the original book it ends with us brought up some interesting moral questions and dilemas and debates about how to approach art surrounding domestic violence
my biggest criticism is just like what was the point of this it doesn't even really have any controversies it's just like nothing really happens it was rushed it was clumsily written it is thoughtlessly written even
for me I think that I found this book too obvious I felt like I could see the construction lines like the author was a bit too present on the page and it also ends in a pretty unsatisfying way
I wanted something light-hearted and funny to kind of be the perfect antidote to how I was feeling I listened to this on as an audio book but it ended up just being surprisingly stale
I loved Kylie Reed's first book such a fun age I have been ranting and raving about how good that book is ever since it came out
I liked the author's other book the new me more than I liked this one but I also didn't really love that
The Vibes are lovely but that is ultimately all this book is it's just Vibes it had some great ingredients it just wasn't cooked right for my tasting it was underbaked
there's another book that I read this year called the safekeep which did it so well whereas this one I'm not so convinced
my number one Nemesis is books that do not need sequels books that were so clearly written as standalones that then got really popular and became a brand as I said before and so then a squl just became a cash grab I said the same many times about Margaret Atwood's the testament which is the sequel to The handmaid's Tale
this is kind of two different books squished together it just didn't really make sense in the context of what was happening so true Biz felt like a true mess
every character is annoying and the book feels out ofd even though it's pretty brand new character development don't know her plot missing an action this just didn't work for me
