My Favourite Books of 2016

Reviews19

11/22/63Stephen King
Loved it

however this one was really good because it's more of a thriller and I believe that the story is so good that it compensates for the writing which is not bad but I'm just saying that Stephen King is not my favorite writer

Butcher's HookJanet Ellis
Loved it

this is a modern novel written like a Victorian novel it's creepy it's scary it's murderous and it's so good I am a big fan of creepy novels especially when the creepiness is kind of underplayed so that it is still there but it's not written out in capital letters

Emily climbsL.M. Montgomery
Loved it

I read this series recently and the series as a whole really made an impact on me we get to follow Emily from she is a very young child till she is an adult woman and her journey is so beautiful and so true

Fates and FuriesLauren Groff
Loved it

I loved it's so intense I do see why some people would have some problems with it because it's got quite a pessimistic view but I loved it anyway because I do feel like it's realistic

MarianaMonica Dickens
Loved it

this has got to be one of my absolute favorite books of 2016 I remember reading it in my garden during the summer and I loved how it made me feel this is one of those novels that will make you feel happy and comfortable

Night wakingSarah Moss
Loved it

I read night waking as well as the title Zone this year and I fell in love with both of them now this one is about motherhood and feeling isolated being a mother and not being able to fulfill your career and just do the things that you really want to do besides from raising your kids

I was very much impressed with this book and even though it made me feel creeped out I feel like it was very important and it's one of those novels that is so important to read whether you live today or whether you lived in 1948 when it was published

Perfume riverRobert Olen Butler
Loved it

it's one of those books that is once again about relationships and struggles in those relationships and it was shes yes we all know you're here and once again I just fell in love with the writing style the story and the characters

Spool of Blue ThreadAnne Tyler
Loved it

this one has got to be my favorite of hers so far and Tyler writes about family and life in general she writes about worries that we can all relate to she writes about relationships and struggles in those relationships and obviously she does so beautifully

the other book of Margaret Edwards that I fell in love with is the blind assassin which deals with two girls who grow up together and then grow apart and then it's very intense as well it's very mysterious and it's just written beautifully

The GirlsEmma Cline
Loved it

this book deals with a cult which is based in California in 1960s it educated me a lot on Cults in general how they work and what they do but also I love the fact that this is more about one of the girls in the cult and her development then it's about the cult in itself

The Robber BrideMargaret Atwood
Loved it

first we have the rubber bride which is a very red book and it's a book about this person who poisons your life we all have this kind of person whom we don't really like but whom we associate with anyway just because of reasons this book is about that specific person and it's very dramatic and also very intense

I am once again surprised that a dystopian novel has made its way to my favorites list just because I'm not much into sci-fi or dystopia but this one was once again very scary very creepy just because it was very realistic

The Tidal ZoneSarah Moss
Loved it

this one is about already having a kid and loving that kid but then all of a sudden your child almost dies and you have no idea what happened even the doctors cannot tell you what happened so this girl is revived but of course the parents are worried because when is it going to happen again if it is ever going to happen again and what can they do to prevent it both Are So Beautiful Stories because they deal with worries and characters that we can all relate to and they are both beautifully written

this one has been my favorite so far it's basically short stories that all revolve around some kind of Terror I wouldn't say that they are absolutely terrifying but you have to read between the lines and also Joyce K oats creates these amazing twists to her stories which I am such a huge fan of

I thought that this book was cleverly written it was cleverly structured and once again it's one of those novels that has got some brilliant characters in it all in all just such a fascinating read
