I read every other page and this was so incredibly dull. It's not a horror, it's not a thriller, it's a suspense. The reveal was like nothing. This is not a good one.
lots of yapping, a bit of reading 🐞 my insect book vlog
I liked the spider element. I liked the atmosphere of this. Definitely gothic. Plot itself, however, yeah, I don't really care about what was actually happening.
What was absolutely creepy was the way the spiders were described and the webs they were creating inside people's minds. It made me feel uneasy. So, that was perfect.
The bugs were truly the only enjoyable part of this book. It was the only thing that added any intrigue that had me feeling any type of way. It wasn't poorly written. It wasn't a bad read.
There's lots to think about. There's lots to talk about. I didn't particularly like the story in any way that would be more than a three star. It's like it didn't change my perspective on anything.
I really did not like the start of the queen. I don't think I like Nick Cutter writing from a female perspective.
I didn't like The Troop by Nick Cutter, which is one of the grossest horror books, and it has like parasitic stuff crawling out of body parts.
I got a third of the way into this, and based on some people's reviews, I feel like I should just persevere because there's a reveal or a connection or something that kind of makes the whole book make sense. I couldn't get more than 160 pages in because I just really do not care about the plot.
