Courtney Summers wrote one of my favorite YA books of all time back in 2017, Dress Codes for Small Towns.
Reading Authors I Haven't Read in 10 YEARS 🤯
In 2015, Everything, Everything was a favorite of the year for me.
Ally Condie, I was not a fan of Matched back in 2014, but now she's writing adult thrillers.
I don't think the book is bad for the character that we're navigating. I think the book is bad because it's just not written as if she's a real character.
It's interesting how I started a series from her 10 years ago and gave it like a three, but I still needed to continue the series. And that's not something that happens to me super often.
I think the next year she came out with The Sun Is Also a Star, also became a movie. I didn't like that book quite as much.
The Wrath and the Dawn was a 2015 favorite of mine. I read the sequel.
I began with The Distance Between Us. I gave it a three star originally, but there was just something about her writing that kept me coming back year after year.
I liked it. I liked it like enough. I think my final rating is going to be a three and a half.
I need to stop reading this book. It's not offensively bad. It's just not good.
It was like almost perfect. Which just gives me so much hope for her future adult romance career.
