A rivalry of hearts. Fairies, authors, steam. It was fun.
A Rough Reading Month 😬 April Book Wrap-Up
Act Your Age Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert, three stars.
And a 3.75, which is high enough for me to keep, Begin Again by Helly Acton.
Children of the Dark by Jonathan Janz, which I gave a three, which I purchased as an audiobook.
once it goes completely batshit, it's so different and I didn't like it cuz it reminded me a lot of reading Victorian Psycho.
Paul Tremblay's Disappearance at Devil's Rock, which was a three.
Everyone in this bank is a thief, I gave it 3.75. I thought it was a good book, but it was never going to be a four or five.
I didn't know that I would like Heated Rivalry as much as I did, nor the show.
It was low plot, high angst. But when the title came into it, like that line we got in the actual story, it hurt me so bad.
If It Makes You Happy was not bad by Julie Olivia, but I can't hold on to romances that I give a three, 3.5.
I'm also holding on to Lights Out Resurrection because I just have a whole collection of anthologies, and even though this was a three, like because there were some really great stories in here, there was a five-star amazing one, like I like holding on to collections.
It's the type of book that will make you viscerally angry, and I'm giving it a three cuz I just don't think that it was a very interesting story outside of bringing attention to a certain thing, focusing on these two characters.
I think the writing of this was really beautiful. The translation, beautiful. I just couldn't I couldn't quite get there.
Author I want to read more from, I think I'm going to say Caleb Azumah Nelson because this was very poetic and unique, especially with all of the other romance that I was reading, which felt very traditional.
And Out on a Limb by Hannah Bonam Young, 3.5 stars.
And sadly, Shield of Spears by Daphne Perry, which started out I thought maybe it could be a four, but it ended up being a three.
I don't know if I can really give it a three because I was really disappointed by it.
The Con Season by Adam Caesar, this was a 2.5.
The Final Dip by Kay Bellow, which I left unrated because this is erotica and I don't rate erotica. It was bad though. Just know it was it was bad.
A book I would recommend the most, oh gosh, I'm going to say The Fisherman because even though I only gave this a three, it does seem to be one of the most agreed upon, like cosmic horrors that most people like.
We Could Be So Good by Cat Sebastian, 3.5.
Definitely holding on to Yesteryear by Carl Clare Burke. That was a 4.25.
if you have similar taste in time loop stuff, the Deja Glitch I thought was cute.
